Summer Show Mini-Guide 2010

By Danz

All Tomorrow’s Parties New York [Sept. 3rd-5th] is a fairly small festival but probably the only one I’ll attend this year (besides CMJ, maybe Siren Fest, and All Points West-which doesn’t look like it’s happening anyway) for many reasons.

Reasoning:

Firstly, I couldn’t afford a plane ticket to any of the other festivals; this one is fairly close to Brooklyn in Monticello, NY- where I went to high school.

Secondly, Jim Jarmusch is curating it.

Thirdly Iggy & The Stooges are performing all of Raw Power.

And, well, fourthly and foremost because Brian Jonestown and Sonic Youth will be performing.

If those aren’t enough reasons for you to go (and you live in or around New York) I can’t image what’s going through your mind.

Sept. 5th:

Buy ATP New York 2010 tickets here.

Pretty jealous of those who went to the ATP fest in Minehead, UK a couple weeks ago, curated by Matt Groening and none other than Pavement. On the other hand, (recently reunited) Pavement are playing New York.. wait for it.. 5 days in a row this September! (You probably already knew that) One day at Williamsburg Waterfront, then four more days at Central Park Summerstage (all of which I think are currently sold out). Good god. Good luck getting tickets.

There are a few more ATP fests going on in Minehead more towards the winter.

[Dec. 3rd] Nighmare Before Christmas curated by Godspeed You! Black Emperor, whose line-up includes The Dead C, Black Dice, and Deerhoof.

[Dec. 10th] Bowlie 2 curated by Belle & Sebastian, whose line-up includes The Vaselines, The New Pornographers, and Field Music.

If you live in Barcelona you May be at this right now.
